| FIRST STAGE
“CHÉ, THE GUERRILLA FIGHTER”
(Since the landing of the Granma yacht until the beginning of
the Invasion, when he was the Chief of Column No. 8 “Ciro
Redondo” – 2 December 1956 - 31 August 1958)
Let’s walk through the paths of history... Let’s find
places, events and important figures which are a living testimony
of an epopee… Let’s go through the same paths of glory
that one day made the young Argentinean doctor, Ernesto Guevara
de la Serna, become one of the most universal men of the Twentieth
Century, an example for the future… We will visit the places
where he grew up more as a man and where he was born as a soldier,
where he received the name that made him immortal for the hearts
and memories of millions of people: CHÉ COMANDANTE
(COMMANDER CHÉ) (for
more information see “Biographical Notes of Ché”
in CHÉ, Ernesto Guevara in Uruguay” by Miguel Aguirre
Bayley)
But it is impossible to pretend to follow history step by step,
to visit one by one, the many places of the southeast region of
the island of Cuba, where he lived two years of fight and vicissitudes,
until the achievement – for the first time in the Cuban history
– of the definitive National Independence.
That’s why we are going to tell some moments lived by Ché
and the other guerrilla fighters who fought against forces superior
in number and arms. This army was defeated by a small group of poorly
armed young men, but full of liberty dreams and convinced of the
justice of their ideals. We cannot do more than that because…
HISTORY CANNOT BE REPEATED.
